Training is the acquisition of skills, concepts
or attitudes that result in improved performance and safety within
the job environment. To successfully use a complex system it is
often necessary to be trained in its use. Formal methods can be
used to make sure that this training is as safe, efficient and
effective as possible.

Training needs analysis ensures that the training
ultimately being delivered is optimally suited to the operational
requirements of the customer, and is effective in its delivery of
learning material.
At HFE Solutions we have extensive experience in
applying a structured approach to the identification of training
requirements and the assessment of these requirements against
different training solutions. By identifying the training gap
(between what training is provided and what training is required)
and the key elements that need to be assessed, we can design an
effective training programme.

Although there is considerable overlap between
training analysis carried out for commercial and military
applications, there are some specific requirements for the
development of military training systems: most noticeably JSP502,
DTSM3 and SAT.
The consultants at HFE Solutions have been
involved in a large number of training programmes for the MoD. We
have also developed and validated a unique profiling and selection
method that allows us to identify the most appropriate and cost
effective media for your training programme.

A synthetic environment is a representation of
all or part of a real environment, including the constraints and
relationships of the objects in that environment. Using a synthetic
environment for training purposes allows realistic training
exercises to take place in a controlled environment. HFE Solutions
have experience in the selection and assessment of suitable
synthetic environments and simulators in addition to having
utilised them in a number of training projects.

The dynamic nature of an emergency generates
specific training requirements which must be identified and
analysed, before appropriate training can be implemented. The tasks
that must be carried out in order to deal with potential
emergencies must also be identified and analysed before a response
system can be designed. At HFE Solutions we have experience in
integrating emergency responses with the normal running of the
system, as well as in designing dedicated response systems that are
activated in emergency situations.
